Vacation at the Moselle River

The Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach is located on the most scenic part of the Middle Moselle, which offers not only steep slopes but also distant views of several valleys. Centrally located to the “gems” of Bernkastel-Kues and Cochem and the many wonderfully cozy villages in between, the shopping and district town of Wittlich and the old, beautiful Roman city of Trier can be reached in a short time via the impressive Hochmoselbrücke bridge.

There are well-developed cycle paths along the Moselle, many sections of which are not on the road, with benches and inviting places to stop for a break and longer tours.

Passenger boats offer trips from Traben-Trarbach or Wolf up or down the Moselle. The small but excellent sports airport is located on Mont-Royal, from where you can book short sightseeing flights over the Eifel and Hunsrück.

In the Eifel, there are fantastic maar lakes that can be hiked around or swum through. Geological museums in Manderscheid, Daun, Gerolstein and many other places offer highly interesting finds, information and guided tours.

In the Hunsrück, the route goes “uphill” to the highest Hunsrück mountains, Erbeskopf and Idarkopf, whose viewing towers, artistically integrated into the landscape, offer a magnificent panoramic view. Not far away, the suspension bridge over the Gaybach valley is a popular excursion destination.

In the gemstone town of Idar-Oberstein, exhibitions and guided tours entice visitors not only through historic gemstone cutting workshops, but also through several mines.
